Ronnie Scott's
Jazz Club
Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club, a cornerstone of London's jazz scene since 1959, has undergone several design transformations to enhance its ambiance while preserving its rich heritage. Renowned not only for its exceptional jazz performances but also for its distinctive and intimate design, the club's interior exudes a warm, inviting atmosphere, characterized by dark wood panelling, low ceilings, red accents and dim lighting, all contributing to an ambiance ideal for live jazz. Archer Humphryes Architects have designed the new look for the club in 2024, cleverly maintaining the hallmark design of the venue whilst reimagining it for today’s audience.
Closing in August, for a major refurbishment of its upstairs bar and a refresh of the main room, the club reopened seamlessly on September 2, 2024, resuming its role as a premier venue for live jazz performances. Since the reopening, Ronnie Scott's has hosted a series of notable performances. In November 2024, the club's lineup featured artists such as the James Carter Quintet, David Murray Quartet, Jeff Lorber, Kenny Barron Trio, Carmen Lundy, and the Legendary Count Basie Orchestra directed by Scotty Barnhart.
Throughout its history, Ronnie Scott's has balanced modernization with tradition, ensuring that each design evolution respects the club's storied past and its significance in the jazz community.
Archer Humphryes are continuing with the redesign of the first floor club soon to be announced.
