Archer Humphryes were appointed to work alongside Oliver Peyton in 2008 to develop a number of projects.
The first was the Terrace Café for the Grade 1 listed and national icon , National Gallery Café in Trafalgar Square. Having gained planning and listed building approval the architect’s progressed to their next challenge was to carefully introduce a café design for “Peyton + Byrne” within the lobby of the Renzo Piano designed “St Giles Circus “ development in St Giles Fields London.
The design was developed compliment the giant scale wall of orange terracotta tiles which defines the rear of the lobby area . The servery are detailed white carrara marble , with the hot plate area inset in white Kashmir granite. The rear walls are detailed in white corrian against which the colours of the Peyton and Byrne products project joyfully. Further colour punctuation is lent to the space by the layout of the bright red mesh Alias chairs . The café has an unusual addition. The Mezzanine lounge/working area is ideal either people waiting for an appointment or am out of office meeting area.
